This book is the product of collaboration between the Centre for Nature Conservation, Gottingen University and the Isaac Centre for Nature Conservation at Lincoln University. The contents of the book is the outcome of the International Quality Network (IQN) program supported by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).

The aim of this program was the extension of the universities co-operation for the promotion and internationalisation of the curricula and research in the field of nature conservation.

The printing of this book was sponsored by the Program of Basic Research of Presidium of Russian Academy of Sciences "Biological Diversity"
